Opportunities for Engineering Graduates

Imagine you are in class 12, flipping through brochures late at night, and one thought keeps coming back: “I want a career in technology, but do I really have to leave home for it?” Many students in Chhattisgarh feel this exact mix of hope and worry, and it is nothing silly.

For years, the honest answer was often yes. The big software jobs, the cloud companies and the AI labs sat in faraway metro cities, so families saved money, said tearful goodbyes and hoped their child would settle in well. It is a heavy price, and many of us know someone who paid it.

Now something interesting is happening in Raipur. A large AI data centre park has come up in Naya Raipur; the state has announced a new industrial policy that names AI, IT and data centres as priority areas; and the city’s airport handled more than 27 lakh passengers in 2025-26. Raipur isn’t a giant tech city yet, but the first green shoots are visible, making this a very exciting time to be a young engineer here.

That is also why universities like Anjaneya University have chosen to grow in Raipur. Established in 2022 at Knowledge Village, Naradha, it offers B.Tech programmes in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Cyber Security, along with Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and VLSI Design. For a student who wants to build a future in technology without leaving home behind, it’s worth knowing about.

Is Raipur Really Becoming a Technology Hub?

This is the question we all want answered, so let us be kind and honest. Many students who search for B.Tech colleges in Raipur also wonder whether the city will have good jobs waiting when they graduate. Here is what is actually happening..

What is a data centre, in simple words?

A data centre is a very big building full of powerful computers. These computers store your photos, run your apps and do the heavy thinking behind AI tools. A GPU is a special computer chip that is very good at the kind of maths that AI needs.

Somebody has to design, build, run, cool, protect and fix all of this. Those somebodies are engineers, and that is where you come in.

Does this mean Raipur is already a tech hub?

Not yet, and we would be doing you a disservice if we said so. Raipur is early on this journey, a bit like a seed that has just started to sprout. The roots are there, but it will take time, more companies and many hardworking graduates to grow it into a big tree.

The good news is that you can be part of that growth, and being early often brings the best chances.

What do the numbers say?

Here is a quick look at Raipur’s tech story in numbers.

Fact

Number

Estimated population of Raipur city, 2026

About 15.2 lakh

AI data centre park investment

About ₹1,000 crore

Size of the park

13.5 acres

Planned GPU capacity

More than 1 lakh

Power in the first phase

80 MW

Jobs expected from the park

500+ to 3,000+ (reports differ)

Passengers at Raipur airport, 2025-26

More than 27 lakh

The job numbers differ: one trade report says over 500 jobs, while the company expects 3,000+ direct and indirect jobs. Both are estimates, so please treat them as hopeful guides and not promises.

What Is the Government Doing to Help?

A tech hub does not grow by luck. It needs roads, power, rules, and people who believe in it, and the state government has started taking steps. Even private colleges in Raipur benefit when a city becomes a better place for technology jobs.

What is the Industrial Development Policy 2024-30?

This policy came into effect on 1 November 2024 and runs until 31 March 2030. It aims to attract more industries to the state and names areas like AI, IT and ITeS, data centres, and electronics. It also offers a special package for large ITeS and data centre companies.

In simple terms, the state is telling companies, “Please come here, we will make it easier for you.” Each company that comes can mean more jobs for young people like you.

Where do colleges and universities fit in?

The policy also mentions concessional land in Nava Raipur for IT, healthcare and educational institutions. That tells us the state wants good colleges close to new industries. When classrooms and companies sit near each other, students get a better chance to learn, intern and get hired.

How Many Engineering Colleges Are There in Chhattisgarh?

Let us look at the list of engineering colleges in Chhattisgarh, because choosing one can feel like standing in front of too many doors. A few simple numbers can help you feel more at ease.

What does the list of engineering colleges in Chhattisgarh look like?

The honest answer is that the number depends on who is counting. Here is what different pages report.

Count

What it covers

Source type

38

Engineering colleges, 2023 listing

Admissions portal

76

Colleges offering B.Tech

College portal

91

All engineering colleges, including M.Tech and diploma

College portal

The numbers differ because some lists count only B.Tech colleges, while others include M.Tech and diploma colleges as well. Dates also differ, and new colleges keep opening. So please check the AICTE website for the latest official list before you make your final decision.

Are the new tech branches crowded?

In the 2026 seat matrix, branches like AI and Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering and IoT mostly offer only about 30 seats per college. That means fewer students get in, so planning a little early can help a lot. We do not want you to miss your dream branch because you waited too long.

How should you read the list wisely?

Please do not choose a college only because its name is popular. Check whether it is AICTE-approved, whether its labs are modern, and whether its teachers are caring and experienced. A college that treats you well matters as much as one that looks good on paper.

What Jobs Can Engineering Graduates Find Here?

If you compare B.Tech colleges in Chhattisgarh, one question deserves to be at the top: will this college prepare me for the jobs of tomorrow? Let us see what a growing tech city needs.

Which skills does a tech hub need?

A data centre and the companies around it need many kinds of engineers:
